Our Programs & Resources
In 2022, the Swift Current Branch of the SGS applied for and received a grant, called the "Swift Current Community Support Grant" and with that grant we developed our 2022/2023 programing. This years program is called "Genealogy for Generations". With all the advertisements of Ancestry on TV, the increased awareness of DNA and people looking to find their relatives, the SC Branch SGS wanted to offer programs that will interest the general public to achieve their goals in these searches. Our members have experience helping people from coast to coast in their quest for answers on their family histories. The citizens of Swift Current and areas need to have a local venue to find their ancestors.
The calendar of events includes:
Creating a Family Tree
Forms and Charts
History Books and Other Records
Obituary Files (paper and computer)
Cemetery and Funeral Records
Searching Online (Family Search, Find My Past, Ancestry)
Citing Your Sources
Our programs are on going with our membership. Our resources continue to grow as generations evolve. Genealogy is never ending.
Resources
At our branch office we have several different resources to aid genealogists in their research. Including a library of family and town histories, a large collection of local obituary files, and a machine to read microfilm.
