The Swift Current Branch of the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society was first organized on 7 January, 1981 with 7 initial members. These members developed the branch by creating by-laws, having elected officials, organizing meetings and expanding the membership. Over the years the branch has had many meeting places such as individual homes, the public library, the basement of the bingo hall, and now our current location above Office Outfitters in downtown Swift Current. The branch's goal was to have a meeting place that featured a meeting room, and area to conduct our research, as well as having a place to hold our library and archives.
